Los Angeles Neighborhood Guide: Los Feliz

Los Angeles Neighborhood Guide: Los Feliz

Stop 1: All Time (2040 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)

All Time is a cozy coffee shop/restaurant that's a hidden gem in Los Feliz.  When I frequent coffee shops, I expect their food options to be average, at best. All Time is the exception. Pictured below is the Good Ass Garden-y Salad - greens topped with in season fruit, a poached egg, and tossed with lemon vinaigrette. The brunch menu features eggs prepared in every way imaginable: scrambled on toast, fried in a breakfast sandwich, or fried up with pork belly, market greens, and hot sauce.

Stop 2: Jeni's Ice Cream (1954 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is one of the original artisanal ice cream brands that has blown up over the past couple of years.  Jeni's Ice Creams only uses natural ingredients, and features signature flavors like Frose, Brambleberry Crisp (my favorite), and Brown Butter Almond Brittle.  This is one of THE best ice creams in LA. Check out the menu pictured below:

Stop 3: BellJar (1764 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)

BellJar has an earthy, colorful vibe and carries home goods, small gifts, and women's apparel.  The upstairs has a small collection of women's clothing and the downstairs features womenswear brands including Ozma, Whit, Loup, and Ali Golden.

Stop 4: Otherwild (1768 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)

Part studio, event space, and retail store, Otherwild is a bold, colorful space that supports independent makers.  Remember those "The Future is Female" shirts that were trending recently? Yup, Otherwild is the brainchild behind those shirts. Most of the products they carry (accessories, t-shirts, home decor, gifts) have a social statement behind them, promoting acceptance and inclusion.

Stop 5: La La Ling (1810 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)

La La Ling is a children's boutique for the quintessential Los Angeles hipster family. The store carries baby/kids apparel and toys for young children. If you're looking for rock-inspired tees, this one of the few places in LA where you can find a Morrissey tee for kids.
